So I discovered an amazing book store in Arcana: Books on the Arts when I went to hear Jason Lee speak about his new book (I made an earlier blog post on the experience). Arcana's selection of books is amazing, classics, recent releases, limited editions, short runs, you name it. When I was there I came across this small book by Ave Pildas who is a photographer I was not familiar with. For $30 a book of just ten images is a little bit of a stretch for me, but I just liked it. Loved the fact the edition is only 50 copies and every copy is signed. Another big selling point for me were the images of things I remember so well about Los Angeles growing up: Cops, Strip Clubs, and the Jews for Jesus people. It's a different book, not overly tight, but I just connected with it, and with art sometimes that's all that matters.
