While studying at Arizona State University I was always looking for documentary projects to hone my skills and follow my interests. I began taking photographs at ASU football games, in the stands during the games and at the parties on the row afterwards. I eventually got on to the year book staff which gave me a venue to show the work and also got me on the field for the 1987 Rose Bowl game.
While working on this body of work I had the idea to create a book to document what college life at ASU was like in the 1980's. I created a small mock up book of cut up proof sheets and I came out with a basic layout. After graduating from ASU I focused on several other bodies of work and got busy starting a career in Law Enforcement. The project was put on the back burner until this year (2014) when I came across the mock up book. I then used a call for entries at the Phoenix Art Museum for DIY books as motivation to finally go through this body of work and create a finished project. I created the self-published book "Alphaville - Arizona State University in the 1980's", submitted it to the Phoenix Art Museum, and it was accepted in to the exhibition.
I intend to produce a larger run of this book and I am also looking for other exhibition opportunities which these images would be appropriate in.
